About This Project

“Photography at Career. A Tribute from Italian Photography to the Compassod’Oro Masters”

The exhibition “Photography at Career. A Tribute from Italian Photography to the Compassod’Oro Masters” opens at the ADI Design Museum. It’s a new exhibition dedicated to the Career Compasso d’Oro awards, featuring a collection of 151 poster-sized images that represent contemporary Italian photography.

Following the success of the previous edition dedicated to graphic design, this time the spotlight is on photography, offering a fresh perspective on the Compasso d’Oro career awards. The exhibition provides an opportunity to reflect on the connection between design and photography, going beyond the purely instrumental use of images and highlighting their role in the success of design products and the dissemination of a true “photography of design.”

At the heart of the project is the historical research conducted by the curators, Giovanni Chiaramonte and Michele Nastasi, which has brought to light the limited visibility given to photography in relation to design from the 1950s to the present, despite its significance and pervasive influence in shaping the image of Italian design.

NEO has been invited to participate and create a tribute dedicated to the Compasso d’Oro career award of Sergio Pininfarina from 1994.The image was crafted using AI, aligning with our ongoing exploration of visual languages.
