La Città su misura

Interactive video installation for shadows and movement, created for the exhibition “La città su misura”, Mini Design Award 2006

The photographs projected onto two screens communicate the sense of movement and speed while a single detail remains clearly recognisable.
The visitor’s shadow is the key that enables the hypnotic speed recorded by the camera to be stopped, allowing the image to become focused once more. A software program elaborates the projection in real time recording the presence and the movement of the shadows on the screen, and where the shadows are projected onto the screen the previously blurred image becomes sharply defined.
Many shadows or the movement of a single shadow wipe out the initial photograph revealing the one beneath and triggering the shift to a new scenario yet to be discovered.
