Area Expo Milano
XXI Triennale di Milano
27 maggio - 16 ottobre 2016
The exhibition is divided into three sections. The first is dedicated to the “Mappe” of Alighiero Boetti, the famous maps the artist had woven and embroided in Afghanistan, and which here represent the value of an organized exchange of cultures and identities in a world where borders and flags are continuosly changing. The second section is devoted to the drama of migration and the exodus that is taking place today by land and by sea, represented through a visual narration using iconic contemporary photographs. These are accompanied by images of other misfortunes and struggles that express their continuity in history. The third section displays images of three refugee camps in Africa and the Middle East, where the evolution from camp to city is under way or has already taken place.
