IN SCENA… from March 15 at MUST in Milan!

The Museo Nazionale Scienza e Tecnologia presents In Scena, a new exhibition that explores the intricate relationship between theater, music, and technology through a historic artifact from Teatro alla Scala: an original module of the movable bridge stage. Starting Saturday, March 15, this remarkable piece will become an integral partof the museum’s exhibition.

The movable bridge stage from La Scala, on loan to the museum from the Municipality of Milan, is an extraordinary feat of theatrical engineering. Designed in 1938 by Luigi Lorenzo Secchi, conservator of Teatro alla Scala from 1932 to 1982, this structure revolutionized stage design and performance production.

At the heart of the exhibition, this 6-meter-long, 2.4-meter-wide masterpiece was part of a major theater reform project that introduced a new orchestra pit and cutting-edge lighting innovations developed by the visionary artist Mariano Fortuny. The movable bridge stage transformed the way opera, symphonic, and ballet performances were staged, making productions more dynamic and versatile than ever before.
